Oil filter is a pig to get to, but i managed it, and have never done it before... The sump plug must be handeled with care, u might find info on the www.fordscorpio.co.uk main site about how... a fluch might be a good idea if it hasnt been done before, or its a looong time since the last oil-change... Airfilter is a easy job, its the "Big box" front right side... (just follow the air intak tube, first "box" on it... Haha, bad english and trying to explain something........

hi there the autobox dipstick is the black one on the left of the engine. the yellow one on the right is the engine oil dipstick. to check the level in the autobox, get the car up to temp. with the engine running at all times, cycle through the gears 3 times each (prnd21, prnd21, prnd21). then check the level (engine running). it should be at the max and a red colour. hth

I've been putting ( well my garage has ) BP Visco Synthetic 0W-40 in my 2Lt. It's cured a little chain rattle I had on start up too.

Syntetic oil does wonders. Beside great protection and low friction it also gets the clogs out, disolves them, it's like an engine washer...kind of.... The best way to check an "old" engine is to put the highest grade full syntetic oil in it.....if that engine has problems it will start consuming oil, beeing cleaned by it. Cracked gaskets will also let more oil pass and so on.
