K & N panel filter

Hi thinking of getting K & N panel filter for my cossie anyone got one fitted if so does it make any difference to engine note/response etc. Hve a viper induction kit on my mondeo v6 and it sounds sweeeet! would like my cossie to sound a bit more of a growler at revs so any ideas, apart from sticking a rottweiler in the air box!

a panel filter would let the car breath a bit easier so maybe there would be a pit of extra noise, but they still use the cars standard induction system
go for a induction kit like on your modeo, pipercross do one for arround £95, then the noise would be super

A bit worried about using an induction kit on my cossie, ford seem for once to have put some thought into the air flow with adding the little box after the filter to swirl the air before going into engine (Similar principal to my viper kit on my mondeo) so wouldn't want to disturb that arrangement. Also the engine bay gets very hot on this car so wouldn't any gains be lost even with a cold air feed, only way round it would be to make the feed sealed then you might as well just use a replacement panel inside the existing sealed system. Just my opinion, any other thoughts, or people using aftermarket systems input greatly appreciated.

Just an afterthought, this got me thinking and had a look at Viper induction kit on my mondeo V6. The mounting plate on my Cossie and on the mondie are the same size! This leads me to think that they might swap over its a bit tight on length in cossie bay and still figuring how to get the cold air feed on inside the cossie bay. Has anyone fitted a Viper kit to their Cosworth? If so some pics of the installation would be great so i might figure this out. The sound and response of this kit on the mondie is very good, would love to see what would happen on the cosworth.

i use a jetex (JR) cone filter instead of the airbox. i shield the cone with heat shield and feed cold air to it via the 'old' tubing route.
you just fix the filter on to the MAF (think mines a 80mm neck, 24v is bigger?) keeping the resonator.

Cheers scorpio man, would really like to use viper kit if i can as i think the mondeo will be scrapped later this year as H/G is on its way out and on those cars your looking at 4 figures to fix. So anything i can use/sell off that car would be handy. Thought i would have to sell viper kit but if it fits on scorp then great especially as it cost £250.

Not a cossie I know but I fitted an Apiro kit to my 2.3 and it makes quite a bit of a differance, Better breathing and gear changes. Cost of kit £45, Breather filter was £6.

Looks very nice! My problem i think will be where you've got your cold air feed attached to the kit, on the cossie the end of the viper looks like it will be right up against the r/h bonnet strut so no room to get a feed on the end of it.

This one only just went on mine, I had to squash the pipe a little to stop it rubbing the strut.

Got it a motor shop in Newquay Cornwall while on holiday, they sell them on ebay too.
I have had no problems with the MAF and you can feel it breathing better.

Yes, Complete kit.
What I had to do though was stretch the rubber to fit onto the MAF, not to hard a job, just put the end in boiling water then twisted it onto the MAF with it off the car.

Look for "Forza" or here is the number for one on ebay,
180017251346, I know where I bought mine from they did have differant colours too.
Not sure if I mentioned it but the filter is stainless.

there is a small difference in pick up, plus a bit more noise!  i had a similar one to that but changed it for the jetex (jr) one. thought it was a bit too small a filter.  no issues there with the jetex one, but you need a heat shield and it cost more (+£10 or £15). oh, and the cold air feed (which i'll need to fit one of these days ).
your lpg will run great with one. don't know why, though.

you normally just use a (13mm?) breather filter. looks just like a very small air filter.
