EEC-IV + ABS diagnostics!

I have just come across a design for an interesting DIY build for an EEC-IV (2+3 digit) combined with Teves II & IV ABS diagnostics unit. Rather than expecting you to count the flashes of an LED - it does the counting for you, stores the results and displays them in an LCD display. I know the EEC-IV will work with the 2.9 12v via the OBD socket because I have used my own star tester on it, but what about the ABS? Is it a Teves and are the ABS diagnostics also on the OBD socket? The Granada enthusiast designer is selling the pic (a ready programmed mini-microprocessor) only, you buy and build the rest of the unit. http://www.graynada.co.uk/ click on the 'FCR' at the top of the page.

I presume that it will work with the ABS from the OBD socket on the 12v because the Ford WDS 2000 and earlier models are able to interogate the ABS system via the obd socket. And as the Scorpio uses the Teves MK lV or 20 depending on year of maufacture I would have to say YES . Looks a good project.

| This might be a good time to learn However....... If you would like to get the bits together for two of the units, I'll build 'em and pay you the cost of the parts for one of the units. I don't know the cost, but he is selling the ready programmed pic for £12 postage included via Ebay (you might be able to get a reduction if you buy more than one pic). The next most expensive part is the LCD display, at £7 from Maplins - I have just checked and they are still available. The above assumes you already have an OBD plug - one of these would be needed in place of the Granada type (PL1). I have just built my own version of the star tester, but this sounds much easier to use than counting the flashes/bleeps from the star. You can price the rest of the bits up by using 'search' on the Maplin website and quoting the Maplin part in his parts list- http://www.maplin.co.uk/ Let me know if you want to go ahead with it Geoff.
