Wiper linkage

Whilst driving today the linkage from my wiper motor to the passenger widow wiper came off. I managed to put it back twice but it came off again.
I took it to my local garage and he told me the linkage had worn and needed replacing.
He phoned ford on my behalf and they told him that I needed the complete wiper motor at a cost of £82.
can any member tell me whether this is correct or not. It seems daft to me because there is nothing wrong with the motor itself. Any help appreciated.
