Looping fuel pipes

I did put this on here a few months back, but didn't get much response....hopefully someone will know the answer this time  Wink

Why do the fuel pipes, both do complete loops near to where they enter & exit the fuel rail ?

The only reason I can think of is to make them more flexible  Undecided

Also, could a fuel pressure issue be caused by the extra pipe (the looping) that the fuel has to travel through ?....Surely a shorter pipe means that the fuel pump doesn't have to work so hard  Undecided

hi jc

never noticed this before. Grin the flexing thing sounds correct, though. some engines fair rock on start up. worn mountings? Undecided

re the pressure thing. not sure, but the pump flows at a highish pressure. just take the pipe of and try the pump!! done this with an old fiesta in the engine bay and petrol was flying everywhere! Shocked cleaned up the engine nicely, though. Grin

I don't really understand what you meanHuh? but the fuel system on fuel injected cars is has an IN and and a RETURN back to the tank.
They usually work at 2/3 bar ( 30/45psi) and any unused fuel is returned to the tank although this mostly only happens at low revs.
If this is not what you mean try to explain in  more detail what you actually mean! PLEASE.

it gives the pipes some 'play'

the engine vibrates and wobbles arround on its mountins while ur driving, if they were taught/ solid connections whey would evenutally fatigue and break off!
