Part Numbers

Just had to buy a new temp gauge sender from FMD....£21.08  ...gone up a bit since last time I bought one 
Anyway, the part number is 91AB-10884-AA. I've just been looking on Ebay & there is a guy selling them for £11.99. They are the same part number but end in the letters 'AB' & not 'AA' like the Ford part.
Anyone know what this means ?....is it an updated part ?...or maybe come from a different manufacturer ?

come across that myself with granada 12v scorpio a while back. letters at the end were different but sender fitted and worked fine
