hi there that's 6% out, so i wouldn't do it. 205/50/17 is better. also, do you have 17" wheels? originals are 16". hth

Hi Dave. The official 17" tyre size for the scorpio ( according to the handbook ) is 225 / 45 / 17. This is what i have on mine & havent had a problem, even with a full load & passengers

The load index of 205/40R17 is typically 84, while the cossie saloon needs around 90 and the estate at least 91 based on weight alone (increasing 1 in LI means 15kg more load capacity per wheel). Not only illegal but also very dangerous. The other proposed sizes will have LI 93 and 94 respectively, so no problems with those in this respect.
