looks like the idle control valve on a 2.0 16v, the cables on the plug are bent over 180 to keep them tidy

I suggest that it is the IACV BUT it appears to be the one for a 2.3 as the shape is different to the 2.0ltr and there looks to be a plastic manifold beneath it.
