Overdrive doesn't work. Took gear knob off found that one of the wires had split 3/4 of the way up. Is there a way to open the gear knob and rejoin the wires or will i have to buy another one ? Andy

Theres a split pin half way up the selector handle to remove it. I have a spare if you get stuck

Was the wire broken or insulation missing making a short?
