Replacing steering wheel?

Now, if say I had come into a half decent half wood steering wheel and was thinking of fitting same to my 24v. How do I go about it without the airbag covering me with talc, much to the amusement of my twin boys (aged 26 with a puerile sense of humour!)
simple talkthrough for a simple mechanic please!
