Hi Matt, I had a TD with the same issue. It turned out to be a split diaphram in the fuel injector pump so might be worth looking at that. Once that was replaced, turbo would kick in around 2250 RPM although I adjusted the the pump so power would come in around 1500 RPM.

That my old one Matt? I had a fuel sensor go and do the exact same thing on one of mine, took ages to work it out, eventually found the solution on a Jeep forum its located on the front injector, the one with the wire coming out of it

I got a new diaphram from a local company who recondition fuel pumps and injectors. I'd do a search on the internet for anyone local to you and no doubt someone will come up trumps. If not, I will try and dig out the name of the people I used for you.

| Matt, the actual fuel sensor is built in to the front injector, you cant change it seperately, the complete injector needs replaced. You will be able to see a small black wire coming out the front injector which is then routed down the rear of the engine. I did post pics etc on here but my search keeps timing out, will keep looking.. I didnt even know there was such a thing as a fuel sensor, I could find absolutely no reference to this sensor in any Ford websites or literature, as I mentioned I eventually found the exact same problem being discussed on a Jeep forum (same VM engine) and thats how i found it.

Up date the bolt that should hold the turbo heat shield to the intake manifold was missing and boost pressure was escaping through the hole, so plugged that off the turbo was lose on the exhaust manifold, need to find a nut as 1 is missing now , doesnt scream now when at high revs and engine is quieter at least lol the diaphram in the pump is on its way out, ill try and find a replacement for this can some one take a pic of their turbo of the pump unit, in particular the black sensor (large round black plastic bit), had to remove this and not sure its back in exactly the same place still no noticeable kick, i'll see if ive got a spare injector to try in number 1 Tons, dont worry about it mate im enjoying the challenge tbh, and it give me summat to do on a wednesday evening waiting for the missus to finish college lol, plus i hope it will be worth a bit so i plough that into the cossie it hasnt cost that much, mainly fuel in collecting the wheels, most of the bits have come from the old TD i had and various cossie parts, but your welcome to come a have a fiddle
