Slapping noise

Hi, my dear old Scorpio has just developed a slapping noise as i drive along, its not the engine cos when staitionary and revved there is no slapping noise,... it actually sounds like when u used to put a lollipop stick in the spokes of your bike wheel as a kid... any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance Micky

Try looking in tread pattern of tyres. could be stone or somesuch stuck in it.

Regular clonking noise from the rear which gets louder / quieter when you make a turn - left or right would probably be a CV joint. Not difficult to change but clean the muck out from the heads of the Torx bolts or they will 'round out'

Had this on Saturday, one of the rears, most prob offside; I also thought it might be something stuck in the tyre but couldn't find nowt. It shortly dawned on me most likely a rattling brake pad, sure nuff disappeared next time I used the brakes hard. PS: one 'slap' whatever you want to describe it as, for each turn of the wheel

thanks, i will jack the car up and spin each wheel indepentdantly to check which the noise is coming from, altho, whilst driving it seems to be from front O/S....
