Hi everyone, Can anyone suggest any problems in replacing 225-50-R16 tyres with 205-55-R16 tyres on my Scorpio saloon 2.3 1998 facelift? I only cover about 2,000 miles a year and very rarely go up to the motorway speed limit. retiredjames

Morning James and welcome to the site are these the 12 spoke wheels? in the handbook they only specify 225/50 for the 16 inch wheels They will still have to be the correct speed rating specified for the car. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/handbook146.gif I would think you would need to check with your insurance company before you do it as they WILL use non manufacturer specified tyres as a reason to invalidate a claim. the 15" wheels show 205/65 as an option, Is changing the wheels to 15" feasible? Is that more problems than you were looking for?

Looks promising! Better to check with your insurance company though James. Some of the Ford literature has contained wrong info in the past

I have 205/55R16. Just perfect. Handles much better than my winter set of 205/65R15.

Thanks to all who replied. Twelve spoke alloys are fitted. I called in the local Ford garage for their advice. They didn't seem to know there was a Scorpio in the Ford range!! So, nothing of any sense was forthcoming. I'll decide nearer the MOT. Once again, many thanks for your input.

I'm going to start carrying a photograph around I think. This thing you reckon doesn't exist, here's a picture of one.
