A local motor factors will be able to cut a key if they have the machine, your problem will be coding it if you dont have the red master key

Alas no but have just had an idea. If I get an ordinary key cut, remove the chip from my key and stick somewhere near ignition lock. Use the remotes (I have 2) for unlocking/locking etc. Can anyone see why this would not work

Yes that idea will work but make sure that the transponder is near the ignition lock. Some people have done that in the past when they have had new keys cut. just tape the old key with the transponder on it inside the steering column.

There is a place in shifnal near telford called the tradeinpost, he cut and programmed a key for me off the black ford key for the bargain price of £65. I think he does postal key cutting too. Regards Ashley...

Kev, yours is a facelift 98 yes? you won't have a red master key, the facelifts (apart from the odd one or two) only came with two black keys

I've found that the surest way of doing what Snoopy suggests,is to remove the sender from the column and tape the chip inside it,then just allow it to lay inside the dash. GOZZ.
