Is it possible to bypass PATS/ Immobiliser?

Hi all. I am months in to trying to fix my 2.0 lt auto Ultima. Engine starts and runs beautifully for 5 seconds and dies - this happens every attempt unless I disconnect the battery for 2 hours after which it starts and runs fine for a few times before reverting back. It feels like the car is deliberately switching the engine off which leads me suspect the PATS system. Is there a way I can bypass this to trouble-shoot the problem to see if the engine will continue to run? Also if I use a secondhand PATS module from another car will this work straight away or does it need re-programming somewhow? Wiring loom was the usual disintegrating mess but all wires have now been replaced hence me now looking elsewhere fo rthe source of the fault. Any help would be muchly appreciated! Thank you in advance folks!

Hi, among my many "parts for sale" (see ad) I have a 2.0 (ultima I think) computer with pats, ignition lock with pats ring and 3 keys (got to find it first though) fro I think a 95 or 6 saloon.
May this be of use, pm if you want me to find it, came from a guy on here and is a OK so far as I know as all the ones i had on the raod recently were 3.0s
