MK1 granny brake master cylinder

Having real problems with the MK1 at the moment. It is leaking brake fluid between the master cylinder & servo. Took the master cylinder off & it's obviously leaking fluid through the rear seal  Sad

The problem is finding a seal replacement kit. There are none on Ebay & I can't seem to find anywhere that does them.

Can anyone help ?  Smiley

P.S...it's a Girling

Thanks for that Dave, although the kit they are doing is for an ATE cylinder I'll Email them to see if they have one for a Girling  Smiley

P.S...didn't know that the MK2 granny & 2.8 Capri shared the same cylinder. If a Girling kit is gonna prove difficult to find, then I suppose I could actually fit an ATE cylinder on it, if I can find one  Smiley

Hi mike, it's the 3.0 V6 Essex engine which as far as I know has a different cylinder to the 2.0, but thanks anyway  Smiley

JC, I had this problem on a Mk2 Granada - fluid level kept dropping, kept putting fluid in...but no sign of a leak !
Is the Mk2 master cylinder the same as a Mk1 ?
Ebay item number: 280332373038 - Mk2 2.8i being broken.
May be worth investigating ?

Mike.
It usually goes up the vacuum pipe and is consumed by the engine !

That's also where the ATF goes when the diaphragm in that bit ( sorry can't remember what it's called  Embarassed ) which fits on the side of the autobox fails  Shocked

Luckily caught it in time but I was told the engine can literally 'suck' all the ATF out of the gearbox in less than 100 miles.

Thanks Snoopy, 'Big Redd' actually do a Girling 3.0 seal kit & thanks -Mike-, 'Popys Oldshop' actually do a Girling 3.0 seal kit as well which is cheaper than 'Big Redd'  Smiley

Unfortunately, this post may have been in vain  Undecided.....

After stripping down the master cylinder, I saw that there is about 5mm of rust going inwards into the cylinder shaft, which is probably why the rear primary piston lip-seal is leaking. Being that you can't actually buy (for love nor money) a new master cylinder for the MK1 anymore, then it looks like I'm gonna have to get it refurbished  Sad

I wonder how much that will cost ?  Roll Eyes

Jon, I did a search on Google for MK 1 Granada Master Cylinder and there are a number of sites but at least two talk about using one from a 2.8 with modifications such as sealing a 'third' pipe with a brake nipple. May help to have a look. Wink Mike.

JC, these guys might be worth trying : http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/index.html  Wink

Master cylinder ( Girling ) P/N BMC4380 @ £124.57
They also list a service kit P/N BMS1024 @ £14.73

Hope they are the right ones.
