Just returned from a weekend in Blackpool and I am well pleased with my 2.3 Scorpio the way it performed (no not in the tower circus  )
150 miles each way, 4 up and 4 cases in the boot.
Outward...mostly motorway @ 70/80 mph except for the bit betwwen M1 & M6 via Stoke 50/60mph (no aircon used)......... average of 34.9 mpg
Return.....Same route again but coming via Preston, same speeds, aircon on for a while.......33.4mpg
The only downer I had was at a roundabout in Preston when an old biddy failed to stop behind me and "crunch", I feared the worst before I got out to look at the damage, but all was ok with my rearend, she wasn't so lucky, hooray for towbars.

Pretty good. When I drove through Germany with my 24V fully loaded I managed around 26mpg. Only 1 mpg less than my other car on the same trip, a 1.6FSI Skoda Octavia. We drove exactly the same speed, between 80 and 100km/h, except for shorter periods a bit slower.

Sounds like youhad a good time Rod. Glad to hear the scorp performed well. As for the old dear  . Im sure i have a tow ball cover somewhere with the inscription " Your skid stops here"  . I'll see if i can dig it out for you
