Speedo problem!

Hi Guys
I have a 1996 Ford Scorpio 2.5TD Ultima and the speedometer isn't working. The digital mileage is still functioning, as it the trip meter (although the reset knob is broken).
Had anyone got any ideas? Is there a fuse that operates it do you think? Or is it cable operated?
Any feedback would be really helpful!
Oh, forgot to mention my cruise doesnt seem to work either. Are these two problems linked do you think?

Yes, the speedo is electronic. As the trip counter is still working, the fault must be with the speedo itself. If the trip was not, i'd say the VSS was to blame.
