Arghhhhhh !! - I just sell my old(er) Scorpio 24v and my new(er) 24v Starts to play up on the same day. Starts up fine 1st time no problem but when putting it into gear (any gear) the revs drop and it just dies - starts up again and I have to 'blip' the throttle when moving into gear for the first time to stop it happening again, fine after that - no problems when slowing down or stopping. Gave the ICV and MAF a good clean out with Carb cleaner but still the same - I think the ICV may have just had it - any other reasons for this behaviour? That Lexus is looking more tempting every day.....

hi there may well be the icv. cleaning seems to work only in part (mines as well, doesn't cut out. just hunts up and down every now and then ). could also be a lambda sensor. the fueling 'changes' as you put it into gear, on mine anyway. i saw that while getting my lpg conversion setup on a rolling road. only a thought. ps. you're the second person who's spoke about a lexus today

I get it too. I just let the car run for a bit then engage gear. I only notice it when the car hasnt been driven for a week or so.. Day to day there is no issue.

AFAIK the 2.0L ICV is the same as th 2.3L I wouldnt touch a second hand one with a barge pole-how can you tell if it is useable or not? If a good soak and clean with carb cleaner doesnt do the trick then dont mess about, get a new one. eddie

When I bought my car from john it had this problem in that it would die at tickover. John's mate an AA guy took off the ICV and gave it a good clean with carb cleaner. This did the trick and I haven't had any stalling problems since. George
