rear hub problem ?

I have had an intermittent squeak from the rear of my 1996 saloon ( 138,000 miles ) so I tried to have a look today. Drivers side rear wheel came off OK, tyre wearing badly on inner edge, brake pad half worn. Passenger side wheel would not come off, no obvious bearing play. After a short run the passenger side is hotter than the other. Any suggestions ? Please try to keep it simple ( I`m disabled & mechanically inept ) TIA Paul Boulden

Sounds very much like the wheel bearing. Check the hub nuts are at the correct torque though I think its about 200lb ft
