2.3 2.0 Manifold Query

Hi, Just joined the group after members’ advice got a friends Scorpio back on the road. I hope somebody can help me too.
I have an R-reg ’98 Scorpio 2.3 DOHC 16v Ghia with a blown head gasket. The head gasket blew after a crack in the inlet manifold caused engine to overheat.
My local garage, whom I trust have quoted £900 plus to fix the car and say it’s not economically viable and do not want to take on the job.
I have found a chap who is prepared to repair the car and he comes highly recommended. He says with a second-hand manifold the job could be done much more cheaply.
A new manifold, seemingly only available from Ford comes in at over £200. I’ve been looking for a manifold and I’ve found a 2.0 DOHC 16v in a local scrappy. The manifold looks the same and the engine generally very similar. The bloke wants £35 for it and that’s removed for me!
Does anybody know for sure if the 2.0 and 2.3 share the same inlet manifold?
I hope your help can save my lovely old Scorpio!

Hi Snid.
Sorry to hear about your problem. I am 99% sure the 2.0 16v and the 2.3 16v share the same manifold. The easiest way would be to check at fords to see if there are two part numbers listed for the different engine sizes. Maybe someone on the forum could tell us this

hi there
NO, the INTAKE MANIFOLD is NOT the same. the 2.3 uses a plastic manifold without the need for a VIS system.
the exhaust manifolds are the same, though.
