Had Cosworth last 2004 - best car I've ever had BUT 1. Recurring electrical problem in That: if I do not use car by third day the car starts rejecting batteries. My Auto Electrical people cant find anything wrong. Now though a pattern seems emerging whereby if battery charge goes down some compoment then triggers an ever increasing drain which results in false starts, (shutdown whilst driving once), which is solved only by chargeing or replacing battery TILL NEXT TIME! Any ideas anyone? 2. Air con worked day before I bought carwhen previous owner's son washing car heard a large bang under windscreen when splashing water about. had two visits to air con folk could not find fault electical or component, but not confident competent analysis yet any good Air con folk in Tamworth/Nuneaton/Hinckley area??

I,m no expert but....... I'd be concerned about the "large bang under windscreen" Somethings obviously been shorted. Bangs don't happen for no reason What are both fuse box's like - does it have the elusive battery cover fitted which a lot of cars have missing. Willing to bet that both problems related to bang!! david

tHANKS FOR THE REPLY. yUP I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THERE IS SOME SIGNIFICANCE TO THE big-bang. The last resort is to rebuild the fuse-box but that will be a very big job with no guarantee the problem will be sorted! The car is in very tidy condition with battery cover in place and very dry and clean wlls and ducts. I was hoping somebody would have similar experience and found a common fault. I personally think it is a relay somewhere which senses reduced voltage in battery and then "sucks" the life out of the battery? THE OTHER DAY THE BATTERY DRAINED IN UNDER 1/2 HOUR !! TO THE BEWILDERMENT OF THE AUTO ELECTRICAL GUYS.

hi there i'd have a look also at the alternator. might be a problem with the diode pack. if it can drain in 1/2 and they can't find it, i'd start looking for a new auto spark.

Thats a huge drain. Like Andrew (scorpio man) says look at the alternator as they can cause a big drain when they go. When you park the car up have you tried removing relays in turn to see if anything sort of "clicks off" - i.e. something is staying on when it shouldn't so draining the battery?
