2.3 oil capacity

Can anyone tell me the exact amount of oil that should go in the 2.3 engine. The book states 4.0 litres with filter, but this doesn't seem enough. I recently changed the oil & put 4 litres in, but it hardly touches the bottom of the dipstick.

I agree, when I had the oil changed earlier this year they only put in 4 litres 'cause that's what the book said but when I checked later the level was right down at the min mark - (they hadn't checked the dipstick which is when we ended up in an arguement )
