Hello
For the past 2 mornings my car as started great! But the OBC keeps re-setting itself to KHM. Is this a sign that the battery is on its way out?
The car is  98 24V Cosworth

Many Thanks

When you turn the ignition on does the needles flick round the dials first. If so then your battery is low.

how old is the battery?
have you attempted to charge it?

if it will accept a charge then do so and ask a local motorfactors or garage to test it (most usually have the appropriate equipment).  It can't be tested accurately if the battery is very low.

Make sure you got the right battery in. They need to be pretty strong to cope with the 24v drain on starting. Might last through summer, but might not start the car tomorrow morning (as I found out).

If the needles flick then the battery either it's on it's way out, or the last trips where verry short and the battery did not charge. There is a statistic which says that a battery recharges it's lost current durning start up in about 5-6 miles. My scorp did the nedles flick about a year ago, but the long trips keept the battery charged. It eaven started the car at -22 degrees. But a few weeks ago it went by without a sign and the day before i did a 200 mile trip.

Hi Octavian_P
thanks for that. YesI have only had her on fairly short runs of late. Mine taking her to Nottingham this week end so should charge the battery up fully.
PS it did not do it this morningHuh

Like Dave said, it can hold on for the summer, a year, or just packup by tommorow, it's just amazing  Grin. Anyway a good run will charge it up, if after the trip will flick again then it's on it's way out.
