Windscreen Wipers

What size should the windcreen wipers be? I bought some blades and the drivers side blade hits the A Post when it is at the top.
VERY irritating when you are driving in the rain for 3 hours listening to click...click...click as it reaches the top.
The wiper arm is in the correct position on its splines.
