remote programming

I have a remote that works on an old ultima open doors etc
I have a second ultima that i want to program the remote to ,selling first one.......i switch the ignition x3 times hear the chime but cannot get a chime when pressing the unlock button nor when switching off...what am i doing wrong her

Try turning the key to the very first spot on the ignition and then press the unlock button - if you hear the chime it has worked.
