Tailgate popper.

My tailgate popper seems to be U/S it clicks but does not move, so I am looking for a replacement.

I also thought that the lock button could be pressed to release the tailgate without the key ( according to the manual ), but this does not look the case when examining the mechanism.

So you have to either use the remote or the key. Which can be a pain.

Has anyone figured fitting an electric release from inside the car ( like a lot of fords had )?

Is there a BUS module in the boot? or is the pop wire presented on the loom inside the mainbody of the car?

Cheers

Has the tailgate mechanism been like that since you have had the car?

In which case it may just need the taxi option programming via WDS.

Baz have you had an estate on yours yet?

Allows you to open the tailgate with the engine running by pushing the button in the tailgate.

Its an option that can be programmed via WDS.

If we had an electrics whizz I suspect somebody could come up with an interior release button, quite surprised that nobody seems to have tried that.

hi there

if i'm reading this right, the button doesn't push in? some of the older cars had this lock. newer cars had a push button.

if it's the push button one, then it could be the micro switch on the 'half moon' disc under the lock. this part is on it's own loom, so is easy to replace.

It's a 1995 M plate estate.

I don't remember seeing any electronics around the lock.

The 1995 does have the push-barrel button. If it doesn't move it's probably seized. Tried soaking in it WD40?

 Agree
Worked for me but I dismanteled the whole lock barrel and cleaned it with wd40 and then put it back together and lubed it with 3in1 the button lock and remote work
fine now.

Hi
Here we go again, on the 95 M estate the tailgate button
DOES NOT PUSH IN, I have been through this with the guys on the site, its a key or remote, I have had mine all apart and struggled for a couple on monthes to sort it, there is a solenoid in the tailgate that opens it with the remote, or you need to use the key, I had a lot of problems in this area, which I have sorted by replacing the solenoid and buying a remote, apart from this I still have the tailgate open light on on the dash, I have replaced the latch switch and the lock switch, but still its on, I think I have lost the feed to the latch switch but cannot work out where it comes from, anyone got any ideas,

Colin, the wiring is routed through a rubber grommet in the top of the tailgate, offside, from where it runs under the headlining.

Hi Simmo
Yes got that far, but do you where from there, does it go to a relay, the only thing I can see from the drawings on the site, it appears to come from 64S-AA27, do you know what this is, a relay maybe. I have tried changing the CCM made no differents.
apart from this it has been a good drive, its got 164,000 mls on it, runs fine uses no oil or water, and am hoping to take the car to France in June, expecting to cover 1600 miles, from top to bottom of France and back, I have sorted most things, just this one prolem I cannot seem to get round, I am sure if there was a good circuit I could manage it.
Thanks  Colin
