Cig Lighter fuse and Windscreen washers

Hi All, couple of weeks ago I posted here about my cig lighter not working, and senior members kindly responded and solved the problem (well, that's what I thought at time anyway). Cig lighter fuse was blown, I replaced it and got working again. However since then I replaced at least 3 more times this yellow 20 amp fuse, each time blown. Any ideas please? Also my windscreen washers are not working, I tried to locate the problem but no such luck. Is this a common problem? Thanks again guys.

Must be a short in the wiring or in the socket itself? nothing shorting out inside it? Wipers could be fuse switch/motor/wiring/multiplug on the switch? Allenjames had short on the fusebox which caused it but hopefully it wont be that.

Thanks for the reply Stuart. Sorry for my ignorance but how would I be able to check if there is a short in the wiring or the socket? Also which fuse/wiring/multiplug is for the wipers?

The fuse for the wiper motors and washer pump is number 7 (25amps), in the drivers side fuse box. Have you checked that the tubing is not blocked as sometimes if washing up liquid is added to the water it will react with windscreen fluid and block everything up. The fuse for the cigar lighter also covers the electrically heated seats so that could be a source of trouble. You need to check out the cabling to see if there is any sign of wear and perhaps disconnect the heated seats.

This should help locate the seat plugs. You'll find all the fuses and relays listed on pages 130-134 in the handbook Here.

If your wipers work then your fuse is ok. My front washer does not work either. There is only one pump for front and back ( estate ) it just spins one way for front and the other for back. I currently have my pipes reversed so at least I can was the front using the rear switch, but it's not ideal at all.. TT
