hi everyone, im a newby to the site. i have a r reg 2.3 automatic ultima i hope someone can help. basically what the problem is my heated seats and cigar lighter don't work. i know that they are on the same relay. and have checked the fuse, and the fuse is working. i took the back cigar lighter out and when i moved the wires about the bulb flashed on. i think its the relay but with the light flashing on it makes me think it could be a wiring problem. can anyone help with this?? someone has told me you can disconnect the heated seats and the cig lighter will work if there is a wiring prob in heated seats as it would bypass the seats. how would i do this? an idiot guide would be good lol. someone has fitted a tow bar previously could this be the problem? sorry for all the questions, any help would be much appreciated. hope it makes sense. also does anyone know what the relay does that is described as power saver (battery) in the book. as this is the same sort of relay as the seats. it would be easy to swop them round to check but i don't know what it does. thanks for reading

Hi, welcome to the site If the fuse is in order then the cigar lighters should work, the relay is for the seat heaters. It sounds like you may have a loose connection to the cigar lighter(s). The seats not working is probably down to the relay, a common fault. You can have a look under the front seats to make sure the connections are tight but they will not normally be disturbed. The relay for the seats is underneath the centre console where the handbrake is. Have a look at this: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/autotrans/GearSelector.pdf You should only need to go to step 4 and not necessarily cut the cable ties, I didn't when replacing the relay. Cheers

thanks a lot for the help. i just assumed that the heated seats and cig lighter were on the same relay as they are on the same fuse.
