Outer sills

I might be needing a new outer sill (o/s) one day. I'm certain it's been accident repaired before I had it and I think that it's rusted right at the front just behind the front wing (don't want to poke too hard!!). Has anyone had a sill replaced? if so how much?? Regards John B.

I had to get a hole patched in the sill of my XR2i. the hole was the size of a 50p and it cost £70 + VAT. I bought my own MIG welder after that!

My sierra was badly repaird for just £200 ( and they set the car on fire burning out the central locking and CD changer looms... ) I then bought a mig welder... TT

If it's not holed yet stop the rust now. Sand it down & use a rust killer/prevention paint to slow it down. Colour match it, you could even brush it on as the finish don't matter so much on a sill. Then fill the inside of the sill with wax oil. Might give you as much as another 5 years before it needs repairing.
