Heated Front Screen not working ????

Hi I have a heated front screen on my 2.3 est that seems dead on both sides ? the dash switch illuinates and i have checked fuse 38 and 40 and they seem fine is there anything else i can check Keith

you could try the earth straps on the side.... failing that,it's probably a new screen,quite common as thy dont last forever.....

thanks for the info it may sound like a daft question but roughly where are the earth straps located ? i got this car last week for £390 with a years mot in great nick and apart from a few niggles and the usual inlet manifold problem i love it. Keith

The connections for the screen are on each side at the base of the screen BUT concealed by the black trim around the wipers. THIS will show you how to remove the trim (Items 3 and 4)in order to check them. As for a repair J-Q you could try conductive paint from someone like Maplins unlkess you have fully comp insurance.

cheers simmo, i might not bother though as just my luck i now have another chip, looks like its been caught by a pellet! luckily there's not much frost down in cornwall so i rarely need to use said screen heater, think i'll just get the chips dealt with and leave it at that, the way my luck is going with this screen i'll proberbly be in for a new one soon!
