Heater Matrix Hose

Hi all. There is a small hose that is attached to the engine nr the exhaust and to a long hose that attaches to the heater matrix. My small hose is corroded and a new one costs over £30 from Ford. The long hose from the matrix is long enough to reach the engine, making the small hose redundant. Does this seem like a good idea? Will it fit? No jokes about my small hose please!!! Cheers. Oops should have told you the engine size is 2.3

Do you mean the bit with the aluminium heat shield around it ? The main hose may reach, but I seem to remember that the bore is too big, so you still need the short smaller bore pipe. If you have a good local motor shop (not Halfords), then they might have a piece of pipe with the same bore, or at least be able to order some of it. Shouldn't be more than 10 quid a metre I would have thought
