speedo stuck

hi turned on ignition speedo and rev counter does its normal bounce but now the speedo is stuck past the 150mph any sugesstions how to fix .ive tried giving the dash a smack but no good .ive also tried the reset button.the wifes afraid she might get a speeding ticket.then she will give me a smack (joking) thanks

I have heard stories of people drilling a tiny hole and using a bent bit of wire to flick it back to zero. As wickedteen says the dancing neadles are caused by a battery on its last legs or a battery with insufficient ampage for the scorp.

I wouldnt drill a hole, the dash comes off fairly easily and there are four screws holding the clear plastic panel to the front of the instrument cluster. Unscrew these and gently move the needle back

thanks to everyone for their advice .the problem appears to have fix ed itself i think the wife has scared it back to working again. on the advise on changing the battery i have the same fault with my scorpio i fitted a new battery but it didnt make any differance its still intermitent so i live with it.we have his and hers 20i ultimas.
