Hi there and welcome. The buzzer should sound continuously when the drivers door is open and the gear selector is in other positions than P (happens on autobox). Also theres a chime sound when you open the door and leave the lights on.

This sounds like a problem i had with my 2.3 the gear lever was bent so that when it was put into park, the switch that sounds that buzzer was not contacted, so the buzzer went off whenever the door was open. Ian

There is a 'linkage on the box which is probably either bent or stiff. Have a look at THIS page and see if that helps. It is a matter of adjusting the ccontacts. If this isn't the page I'm sure someone will come up with the correct one.

its fenners again. problem fixed. it was the auto gear shift. i have to push it well and truly home and the buzzer now only operates when it should...... when left in drive or reverse etc etc. looking forward to driving to work in the snow in about ten minutes. new experience for me in an automatic! thanks once again.
