yet another gearbox problem

how often should i have to top the auto box fluid on my 20 ltr estate its been on the road three months since an engine change its was slow going into drive today cheaked the box oil it needed topping up slightly witch cured the problem cheers

hi there if it needs topping up then you have a leak. check the pipes to the cooler at the front of the car first. hth

After that have a look at the bottom of the gearbox - I don't think its particularly common but the sump gasket leaked on mine.

thanks dudes i got to drive to carslile from wolverhampton and back on saturaday should imagine it will be ok (i hope) thanks it turned out that one of the oil cooler pipes were loose i love it when its that simple

Hi Mate, did you find a leak! No. As you said its been in the garage for an engine replacement. If they removed the convertor with the engine, or desturbed the pipes, they may have lost some oil and not topped it back up. Have you had to top it up a number of times ? If not you mite now have it at the rite level
