I've got a 24v Estate with 80k on the clock..genuine..full Ford service history..and to be honest it starts..ticks-over, runs really well...has a staggering top speed..over 140mph but the acceleration seems well ...OK...not hugely quicker than my old 2.3 to be honest...It does 19/20 mpg around town anything up to 28 mpg on the motorway..no smoke..seems in perfect condition just not 207bhp that's all..any ideas?

For acceleration, you must really be using Sport mode. And have the O/D flicked off too. You still may not be the first off the lights, but it'll kick in after a couple of seconds, once its rolling. Don't forget, this is a big car.

It might be worth checking your ht leads in the dark to see if they're arc-ing off anywhere along there length, i accidently found mine were arcing off onto the 'octopus' causing it to lack power above the 70 + 30mph mark, a fresh set of leads cleaned that up Matt
