Further to my previous post of "what oil for a 24V" I am soon going to carry out first oil change, apart from a Ford filter and right oil, are there any other little tips, hints, trick or warnings that I should be aware of? What sort of drain plug is fitted to 24V? square head?

You might like to read this too. The sump nut can be a real pain. But you might be lucky

If possible use a 6 point socket or ring spanner, the 12 point ones have a nasty habit of rounding the pisspoor soft metal nuts that Ford inexplicably use for service items like sump nuts.

Hi, Let National Tyres do the job, no mess, their problem. I always us them and always get a new plug before I go stops leaks that seem to occur using the old plug again.. I always ask if the correct oil and filter and confirm this fulll synth and correct filter...all for £25.00. GREAT Cheers John

I have just done this...The sump plug didn't want to come off, but remembering what my old Dad used to say...."You need some torque on the spanner lad" I slid a 2ft bar over the socket lever and it just came right off. Funnily enough I always carry one in the back of the car for the wheel nuts as well... Cheers Brian
