Diesel fuel leak

Took the diesel out this morning - spotted a few suspicious damp looking bits on the road where I'd been parked as I drove off. Nothing major but noticeable. Coming out of the shops there was a clearly visible wet patch under the car and a strong whiff of diesel.

Have just had a look and it's got a fine diesel spray coming out somewhere near the rearmost injector - have tried tightening the nut that holds the delivery pipe in place but that hasn't helped much (it hardly budged). The return pipe looks fine and the spray seems to be coming out from around the other side anyway.

Any thoughts before I book it in?

Dave

ps. I've been noticing a diesel smell the last week or so but just put it down to having windows open and it being, well, a smelly old diesel

Must be fuel leak week.

Just got back in after rescuing my wife. Her Suzuki Vitara was down the road leaking petrol from a fractured fuel filter. Got it back here, and fortunately it was only one of those straight thru things, and there was an accessory shop nearby. All sorted.

Funny place to put it though, under the back axle. Think it's the original one as there's a purpose made bracket for it.  Wink

All fixed now. It was the blanking plug at the back of the injector that had perished...

On the recommendation of a friend I spoke to Panda Fuel Injection (Unit 4a, Bridge Industries, Fareham, PO16 8SX - 01329 220 551) who were very friendly and helpful on the 'phone. They knew which diesel engine it was and were pretty sure that it was just a perished blanking plug which is hard to see on cylinder 4.

Took the car along this morning and they took a look at it, confirmed what the problem was and then fixed it straight away.

Total cost was "a couple of quid for the tea box"  Shocked

I've never known any service like this in five years of Scorpio ownership and I'd recommend this company to anyone with any kind of fuel injection problem.

Dave,

I'm still shocked about it. Got my first counselling session booked tomorrow ROFL

There must be good local garages all over the place though (well, I can dream) - avoid Franchised Main Stealers at all costs in my book  Wink

Guess what, these guys are really busy - I wonder why  Roll Eyes
