Hi all got a problem with my 95 2.5tdi , it seems to be drinking coolant! i have put about 4L in over the last several days but i can't see a leak anywhere. I have had a good look at all the hoses and they are are tight , also it doesn't drop any while parked Any ideas would be greatly appreciated cheers

Sure there's no leaks? Mine developed a leak where the radiator bottom hose and the expansion tank bottom hose connected, but this was only obvious when the system was pressurised - with the cap off it didn't happen. If it's not going onto the road then the water is either going into the sump, or into the passenge compartment (leaking matrix), or if losing it slowly then possibly being boiled lost through a non-sealing expansion tank cap. I've also had problem with the radiator drain plug not sealing properly - slackening it off slightly seems to have helped! Darren

Hi mate, notsure about the diesil lump, but i was loosing water, about a hole expantion tank full every 5 days, took a while but it was a small crack at the bottom of the thermostat housing cover, as because the engine was hot where it leaked onto it dissolved quickly, leaving no traces until a white powder residue started appearing jim

Don't forget the tank itself. They have a tendency to crack underneath.
