locate electrical wiring

Hi scorpioman, can you help me locate the wires and their functions, these are on the 2.3 towards the bulkhead and located under the oil return valve, the wires then go into a connector that as far as I can see is located towards the rear of the engine. They are between the egr valve and the bulkhead. Possibly two wires wrapped in black insulating tape, mine appears to be a bit frayed and I was wondering what they do and what is the likleyhood of the deterioration and effects that this would have on the running of the 2.3 system.

Hello Scorpioman, yes the switch enters the top of the rockerbox cover on the nearside just below the painted 16v on the top cover.

cam shaft sensor (D).
i think it's involved with the timing somehow, but not really sure.
there's bit of a write up here.
btw, it's part of the fuel cut off loom.
