Remote problem, Please advise

Hello all, I bought my Scorp about 3 weeks ago, it has not been on remote C/L for a while. I bought a remote for the car about 4 days ago, i have followed all the instructions for programming this is happens the bongs and everything! But it does not work, i have cleaned all the inside and changed the batteries. I have also driven miles in the car for the car to re-adjust to being on remote....but nothing The guy i bought it from swears it was in working order.....can anyone please help with a solution to this predicament. The misses is gonna batter me if i have spent good money on a dud

Fordnut ...are you following the instructions per book or as stated on this site. The handbook is wrong. Put key inignition and turn the key to pos 1 then back again ...do this three times then press the remote LH button you should get a chime. Then turn the key to the 0 pos and you should get a chime ...thats it. the remote is coded to the system. HTH Ferret

| Thanks for that, yes following the instructions on this site...which is why i was wondering what i was doing wrong.

I think that some people have reported slightly different amount of turns with the key, but basically turn the key from position 0 to 1, repeat until you hear the chime leaving the key at position 1. Then press the RH (unlock) button on the remote you should hear another chime, turn the key to position 0 you will hear another chime and the remote is now set. Just ensure you get three tones in total otherwise programming failed.

Just turning the ignition to position 1 then pressing "unlock" is usually enough to re-programme after remote cleaning or battery changing. I realise it might be different for programming a completely new remote.
