hi everybody!
i own a 2000 cmc 16v 1996 scorpio and i have some problems with the differential (that noise when you release the clutch pedal). Can i replace it with the 1995 type which has different mounting ?

Yep the diff backplates are interchangeable, the diffs are the same.
How sure are you that the diff is the problem?? they are pretty bombproof.
Has it been checked? I think its more likely to be a CV joint..

i went to different mechanics and finally to a ford dealer. they all said the diff needs some adjustments.
they looked in store for some shims they probably need to do the job and because they couldn't
find any i decided to replace the diff . the only diff i could find was from '95 scorpio which looks a bit different from the one i have. this week-end i want to replace the diff - hope everything will end-up fine.
