hi to all my 1997 2.3 scorpio est has been losing coolent for a few weeks just pined it down to a hair line crack on the stat housing ... what i need to know is ..is this a big job to change and how much is a new housing ? Thanks Keith

If it's only the external "bowl", then it should be done in approx 15 minutes + refilling and bleeding the system. Don't know how much one would cost, but I personally would post in the 'parts wanted' section for a used one.

Hi I think you're talking about the inlet manifold, that's the part of the thermostat housing that bolts to the engine. There's a similar topic HERE

You can repair this crack if you are carefull, you would have to remove it and clean it out possibly with some emery cloth to rough it up, then when it's dry and clean apply some plastic metal from the inside and also on th outside, I know someone on this site has done this successfully although I can,t remember who, a search would probably bring it up.
