ABS Light on intermittently

Hi all, Boo - Scorp has just failed its MOT 'cos the ABS light was on... Now it only started doing this a short while ago - the light comes on for a couple of days, then goes off for a few days. Typical that the light came on while it was being MOT'd! Anyway, I've investigated the connections as best I can - the wheel sensor connections, though a bit dirty (now cleaned), don't appear to be the cause - the under-bonnet ABS connector (to the pump module) appears fine too. I have read that there's another connector somewhere that can cause problems but I'm d**ned if I can find it! Other forum posts suggest it's below the radiator/behind the bumper but nothing seems to be anywhere near there. Any clues/advice/helpful suggestions would be gratefully received! Cheers, Nick_H

The rear sensor connections are under the back seat, have you checked these, could be a buildup of dirt on the sensor rings on the wheel hubs, a good brush may help here... hth Pete

Thanks, Pete, but I've already cleaned up the connectors to all four wheel sensors. Only one was cruddy anyway. Anyone else? Please? PS: Can't believe the forum censored the word 'd**ned'

d**n right!! You ABS light.. does it come on with the ignition, do the self check and go off? Does it come on when you get up to the 15mph mark? does it come on with the ignition and stay on? or is it just intermittent?

You're right, some clarification is needed: It only started to happen a week or so ago. At present, the light usually comes on and goes off after its 3-second self-test. Then, after driving to work for 30mins ish, the light comes on and stays on. Often it will be off when I head home but come on again before I actually get home. This weekend it stayed off all the time, even though I was driving for about 30mins. My poor tired brain can't figure this out...
