Estate Rear Shock Absorbers

My estate failed the NCT same as MOT due to leaking rear shock absorber. I am quoted Euro 450 for one shock and I am advised to fit a pair. When labour is added the cost will be more than the car is worth. Is there a cheaper equivilant shock on the market. It is an executive estate so the self levelling facility is not provided as far as I know. I would appreciate any help or advice with this problem.

All the estates have self-levelling rear suspension, however many people just fit standard dampers when the originals fail. Darren

Do you mean that standard saloon shocks will do the job. Will they fit OK.

sorry, estates have to have the correct dampers only available as OE, they are BOGE units, may be available from a dealer, last time I had some they were cheeper from main agent. saloon dampers do not fit.

Halfords say that they can supply the shocks at around Euro80. I am doubtful but will check it out.

hi there afaik, the estate has a different rear (wishbone) mounting, so saloon shockers won't fit. try Ashley Banks Ltd Nivomat Short Absorbers 5, Kings Street Industrial Estate Langtoft Peterborough Cambridgeshire PE6 9NF Tel: 01778 560651
