Information on a 2.0l DOHC 8V Scorpio

I just need to know what year they started this model?
And was it only available with aircon?
My aircon pump has ceased and I wondered if a non air con drive belt would fit from an earlier model as mine is a 1997 with aircon (bypassing the pump)
Will I have to re locate the alternator to the other side of the block??
