Tonight my rev counter did some wild clockwise excursions about 2 or 3 and then it stopped and behaved itself - Anyone had this problem with this model of Scorpio. I seem to remember reading something somewhere about this sort of thing

While you were driving or when you turned the ignition on?? If its the latter its usually reckoned to mean the battery is on the way out although I also believe a battery with too low a rating may do the same

Good Point it was as I restarted the engine after a short in town run. I will keep my eye on the battery and check that I have 13.8 volts when the engine is running. A further thought, the car was engaged in this short run where the outside temp showed +0,5 degrees and all lights were on and the heater blasting out full heat . So the battery would have been needing some heafty support from the alternator. Thanks Highlander for your input Have you seen anything written on the subject on this forum?
