Puddle Lights

First off, hi all! First post. I'm just about to sell my MK3 Granada Scorpio 2.9 12v and upgrade to a 2.3 Scorpio Ultima that belongs to my father at the moment. I was having a look around the Scorpio last night and noticed none of the puddle lights work, that includes the red kerb light and the white puddle light. All out on all doors. Could it be a simple fuse? Or just got 8 dead bulbs?

Interesting, I didn't know that. It's a facelift 98 model so chances are that is has no lights. That's a shame, I thought they were quite a good feature

My '98 facelift Ultima doesn't have puddle lights either, or reversing sensors....just have to rely on good old fashioned judgement Also the later models don't have a low coolant warning lamp Extra features that the later models do have though is driver & passenger seat side airbags & adjustable dipped beam height

It's quite strange the later models aren't as well equipped, you normally find on cars that towards the end of production, the manufacture throws in all the goodies. Did Ford run out of parts and not re-order anymore? I'd be happy to give my airbags back for some puddle lights!!

The removal of the puddle lights was something to do with the regulations on vehicle lighting changing to state you can't have rear facing red or white lights in the front 75% of a vehicle. I have the document somewhere, I'll dig it out.

I fitted puddle lights to my old red S reg. Awful pig of a job. I also now have low coolant warning on my silver one (dead easy fit and vital due to my excessive use of radiators!)

took all the bits off an earlier model and stuck them on mine!! It involves soldering an LED into the dash pod (I chose a red one!) and running the single wire from the pod, back through the bulkhead to the 4 way connector just to the right of the fuse box. cable from there to the expansion tank. Lift up the expansion tank and fit the level indicator and thats it really! I have some photos somewhere.... will have a look for them later Baz
