Lrg scorpio blowing indicator fuse all the time

Hi
My step dads L reg saloon scorpio keeps blowing the fuse for the brake lights and indicates, when we replace the fuse and start the car they work fine, but as soon as the car is put in drive or reserve (its a automatic) it blows the fuse?
What could be problem, anyone know?
ps we have checked the blulds and boards where the bulbs sit and they are in, i even unplugged the mainboard where the bulbs sit but it still happens once its put into gear.

Does it blow when you put it into gear or when you (I presume) push the brake pedal to engage gear?
Does it have a tow bar?

It has no tow bar, it blows the fuse once its first put in to drive or reverse.
