REAR BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON...

Took my P reg 2.9cc Ultima to a local garage to have a new radiator, went to collect my car yesterday but they have cannot give it back because the rear brake lights stay on draining my battery. Mechanics tried taking out relays/fuses etc, now waiting for auto electrician. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my electrics before, have the garage done something to cause this problem when perhaps taking out and replacing the radiator? and should I be liable to pay for any extra costs? any advise please. dede.

Before going too far down the road get them to check the brake light switch behind the brake pedal perhaps someones big boot has disturbed/broken it. Try reading THIS

with Simmo....a very likely suspect I reckon The plunger on the switch can sometimes get stuck in & needs to be pulled all the way out again so that it rests against the brake pedal

thanks, I did notice the mechanic pulling that switch out, but the lights still stayed on. Whether he installed it back in correctly is another matter. cheers. dede
